What can I do to still have fun and limit my exposure?

As we transition into our fall months, I have received a lot of requests lately for more ideas on things to do before the summer wraps up. As promised, I have your back. I have come up with 4 things you can do to still enjoy some of that summer sun and fun. Along with these 4 things, I have included a list of must-haves to help the fun go by smoothly.

First up on the list is renting a pontoon boat. Check for rentals at a nearby lake or a lake of choice. They have rentals for a whole day or half-day. You decide how much time you need. I love the idea of renting a pontoon boat because it’s your party on the water in the sun. You don’t have to worry about somebody lying their beach towels next to yours or if they are too close in general. You can rent a pontoon for a variety of reasons. For my singles with friends, invite a few gal pals to enjoy the water with you. Even bring your bathing suit to take a quick dip in the lake. They even have pontoons with slides!

For my couples, depending on how late the boat rentals stay open, bring a blanket and a basket to have a nice dinner and a sunset cruise on the water. Don’t forget the wine! I did want to include a list of must-haves for your pontoon rental. I have listed them below.

(Take note to the disclaimer: There are no bathrooms on pontoons to keeps that in mind when renting.)

I know the idea of sitting in a restaurant is not ideal at the moment. How about grabbing

food to go and taking it to a nearby park to eat? Bring the blanket, nice utensils, flower arrangement, and candid extras along. You can be as friendly or as romantic as you like. If you are planning on hanging out with the girls, assign everybody a task to bring so everything is not on one person. It can be daunting on your legs and back to sit on the hard ground, so don’t forget to bring your floor cushions. I did want to mention for the visuals you want to include things that would photograph well and showcase what a fantastic time you are having. You will need the wine glasses, wine bottle, San Pellegrino Sparkling water, and flower arrangements.

( The cushion is from World Market and is currently on sale for $27. Regular $45. Sign up for world market rewards and get a 15% off coupon to use towards this nice velvet cushion. Its totally FREE to sign up. Click here to purchase.)

Plan a getaway that you can drive to, which is idea number 3. My husband and I recently went to Knoxville, TN. We planned around our reason for going and decided to turn it into a getaway from the kids and have couples time. We weren’t due to be there until Saturday afternoon, so I made a reservation for a room at the Residence Inn that Friday. We left early enough to go grocery shopping and to travel to get there in time for check-in. The reason why I chose this hotel was that we could cook and avoid having to go to a restaurant. It was so much fun cooking together, watching movies, and just overall changing the environment. Go ahead and plan that getaway and don’t forget to reserve a room that has all the furnishings you need. If you would like an experience similar to what we had, stay tuned and I will dedicate another blog space covering the topic. If you must leave your room to explore outside, consider riding around in your vehicle. View the city in a car instead of walking, if the streets are fairly crowded.

Last but not least on the list of fun things to do that limit your exposure is the evermore popular industry of RV rentals. I must warn if you don’t like taking it easy, then this may not be the type of vacation idea for you. RV’s are huge to drive around, especially if you are towing a car behind it. You cannot go as fast as a car and you have to take your time making turns and parking. Not to mention the work that has to be done to connect/ disconnect your water, sewer, and technological hookups at your destination. If you love or need to take it easy and enjoy the beauty of nature mixed with a little bit of work, this is the vacation for you!

You can rent these out for as long as you want and take them where ever they can go. They are the next best thing to social distancing and limiting your exposure. You still get the vacation you want, by seeing nature and experience hiking, fish, and everything that the good outdoors offers. You can even sit outside of your RV and watch a movie under the stars. Below, I have included must-haves to make your RV vacation go by smoothly. Keeps your fingers crossed and say a little prayer for my RV dream coming true.
